About

The University Health Junior Volunteer Program is a summer hospital volunteer program in San Antonio, Texas, for teens ages 15 to 17. Junior volunteers support patients, families and staff at University Hospital while learning about healthcare, teamwork and service. The program is meant to help teens explore career fields, build job skills and take part in special projects. Each session includes orientation and training at the start. In 2026, students could choose one of three summer sessions: June 8-12, July 6-10 or August 3-7. Volunteers serve Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for a total commitment of 32.5 hours. The program takes place in person at University Hospital on Medical Drive in San Antonio. It is an unpaid volunteer role, and the uniform polo shirt and photo ID are provided free.
