About

The Museum of Science Youth Internship Program is a set of internships in Boston for high school students ages 14 to 19 who want hands-on experience working at a science museum. Youth internships are offered during the academic year and through a Summer Youth Internship Program. The summer program lasts seven weeks and pairs weekly professional development workshops with projects inside a specific Museum department. Interns build workplace skills such as clear communication, teamwork and time management while supporting the Museum's science mission. Interns can earn course credit if their school allows it. Perks include free parking, free admission to the exhibit halls, IMAX films and Planetarium shows, and discounts at the Museum store and cafe. Housing is not provided, so interns arrange their own.

Requirements

Applicants must be actively enrolled in high school, or in an equivalent program, and between 14 and 19 years old. International students who do not need visa sponsorship can apply. Openings are posted by individual position on the Museum's internship job board, and students may apply to more than one if they meet each posting's requirements. The Museum usually posts summer roles in February or March, fall roles in June or July, and spring roles in October or November. Each posting lists its own application deadline.
