About

The Broad Summer Scholars Program (BSSP) is a paid, six-week summer research program at the Broad Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts, for Massachusetts high school juniors who love science. Each student is paired with a Broad scientist and works on a real research project in fields such as cancer biology, psychiatric disease, chemical biology, computational biology, or infectious disease. Students attend from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. An on-staff instructor meets with each student weekly to connect lab work to high school science. The summer ends with a poster session where students present their results. Participants also hear science talks, explore research careers, attend a college fair, and join social events. The program is free to apply to and attend. Scholars earn a $3,600 stipend plus partial reimbursement for travel costs. The 2027 program runs July 6 to August 13, 2027.

Requirements
