About

The Urban Design and Planning Studio (UDP Studio) at Boston Architectural College is an in-person summer program for high school students who want to explore city design and urban planning. UDP Studio is taken together with Summer Academy – Boston. The 2026 session ran June 29 to August 7, 2026, Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM, at the college's campus in Boston's Back Bay. It is a day program, and housing is not provided. Lunch is included each day. Students build skills in GIS mapping, digital fabrication, and model-making, hear from practicing professionals at lunch talks, and do civic service learning. The program ends with a showcase where students present urban design ideas to City of Boston representatives. In 2026, tuition for both programs was $4,000 for 6 college credits or $3,600 without credit. Scholarships are available.

Requirements

Open to high school students in grades 9 through 12 who are ages 14 and older; no prior design experience is needed. International students are not eligible. Students must also enroll in Summer Academy – Boston, since enrollment in both programs is required. The 2026 registration deadline was June 16, 2026.
