About
The U.S. Senate Page Program is a paid residential program run by the United States Senate in Washington, DC, for high school juniors. Pages are sponsored by senators and deliver correspondence and legislative material within the Capitol and Senate office buildings, help prepare the Senate chamber and assist on the Senate floor. There are 30 page positions for 100 senators. During the school year, pages live in the Daniel Webster Senate Page Residence on Capitol Hill, sharing furnished rooms with three to five roommates, and attend the Page School, which starts at 6:00 a.m. each day. Pages are paid on an annual salary basis of $38,547 for the time they serve, and $1,380 a month is deducted from pay for housing, two meals a day and field trips. The fall 2026 semester runs September 7 to January 22, the spring 2027 semester runs January 24 to June 4, and two summer sessions are planned for June and July 2027.
Requirements
Semester pages must have junior standing in high school with no plans to graduate early, and summer pages must be rising juniors or seniors. Pages must be 16 or 17 years old on or before their appointment date, and 18-year-olds cannot be appointed. Pages must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, or covered by State Department agreements, must have a Social Security number and need a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Students apply directly to their senators' offices, which set their own requirements and deadlines, and not every senator sponsors pages. Materials often include a letter of interest, an official transcript and letters of recommendation.
