About

SFUSD Summer Programming is the San Francisco Unified School District's set of summer internships and career programs for its own high school students. The options include summer internships with industry partners, the Future Educator Project, health and medical internships, and hands-on and planning and design career exploration programs. Industry internships are paid, last six weeks, and require at least 20 hours of work per week, plus a weekly seminar with an SFUSD supervisor. Past sectors have included transportation, culinary and hospitality, event planning, urban agriculture, information technology, office management, and coaching. SFUSD noted that it had far fewer openings for summer 2026.

Requirements

Only currently enrolled and continuing SFUSD high school students can be considered. Industry internships are aimed at sophomores and juniors, with priority for rising seniors who have not interned with SFUSD before. Students apply by filling out an interest form. Selected students are contacted by email before spring break and must attend a two-part hiring and City College of San Francisco (CCSF) application session in March. Students in hourly paid roles need identity documents such as a Social Security card or passport to be hired. SFUSD says the form for summer 2027 will be posted in early 2027.
