About

SF YouthWorks and the Mayor's Youth Employment and Education Program (MYEEP) are paid internship programs for San Francisco high school students, run by the Japanese Community Youth Council (JCYC) through JCYC Workhub. MYEEP serves 9th and 10th graders, while SF YouthWorks serves 11th and 12th graders. SF YouthWorks places interns in San Francisco city departments, such as the Public Utilities Commission, the Public Library, and San Francisco International Airport. Each SF YouthWorks intern is paired with a mentor who works for the city department. MYEEP combines job readiness training with internships at local worksites and one-on-one tutoring from an academic mentor. In the 2026-2027 school year, interns in both programs earned $19.61 per hour. The MYEEP school year starts with pre-employment training from October to December, followed by internships from January to May. The programs are free for SFUSD students.

Requirements

MYEEP participants must be San Francisco residents. SF YouthWorks applicants must live or attend school in San Francisco. Applicants to both programs must be able to obtain a work permit. Students apply online through JCYC Workhub. JCYC says Summer 2027 applications will open in February 2027.
