About

The New Victory Usher Corps is a paid, year-to-year youth development program at New Victory Theater in New York City for high school students. Corps members are high school juniors and seniors who work as front-of-house staff at the family theater on West 42nd Street in Times Square. Ushers greet patrons, scan tickets, seat audiences, staff the merchandise and concession stands, and help with family engagement activities during shows. They also help the audience exit safely after each performance. Pay starts at $17 per hour, and ushers can earn raises after each program year they complete. The season includes day, evening and weekend shifts, and new ushers begin with orientation and training in the fall. Ushers also attend job training seminars and career and life skills workshops, with topics such as resume writing, college access, wellness and financial literacy. The program is part of the New 42 Youth Corps.

Requirements

Students must be enrolled as a high school junior or in an equivalent HSE or GED program. Applicants must commit to at least three shifts per week around their school schedule (front-of-house shifts or workshops) and attend certain mandatory after-school training dates and workshops. Applications are submitted through an online form linked from the theater's website.
