About

The Met High School Internship is a paid summer internship at The Metropolitan Museum of Art for high school students in grades 10 and 11. Interns are placed with Met staff in areas such as curatorial work, social media, education, imaging, and design. No background in art or art history is needed. In 2026, interns attended a bootcamp on July 1 and then completed 40 hours of departmental work, roughly 10 to 20 hours a week, between July 7 and August 7. Interns who finish the program receive a $1,100 stipend.

Requirements

Open to students who, as of the application deadline, live in and attend a high school or home school in New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut, as well as students working toward a High School Equivalency. Applicants must be able to provide working papers and a Social Security Number or ITIN, have parent or guardian consent, and be available for every required session. Students who have already interned at The Met are not eligible. The application includes a form, short essay answers, and one recommendation letter from a non-relative adult, and finalists are invited to an in-person group interview.
