About
The Areté Internship Program is a paid, after-school internship run by Areté Education for high school students in the Bronx. Areté offers paid work-based internships in three pathways: Teaching, Arts, and STEM. Each pathway is designed to help teens explore careers, build job readiness skills, and serve their school community. In its most recent general posting, interns worked 8 to 12 hours per week after school or on weekends and were paid $16 per hour. That posting listed a flexible location across remote, Harlem, and Bronx sites, and it has since closed. For the 2026-2027 school year, Areté is hiring Intern-Tutors at 360 E. 145th Street in the Bronx. Intern-Tutors are high school students who help middle school classes by preparing mini lessons, leading small group discussions, and tutoring one-on-one. The 2026-2027 Intern-Tutor role pays $17 per hour. The program is grant-funded and depends on available budget.
Requirements
In the most recent general posting, the internship was open to current students at The Laboratory School of Finance and Technology or Walkabout Bronx High School, and earlier Areté internship experience and a recommendation from an Areté supervisor were listed as preferred. Interns need availability for 8 to 12 hours per week after school or on weekends, strong written and verbal communication, and access to a computer and reliable internet. Students apply online through Areté's job openings portal. No application deadline is posted.
