About

The New England Aquarium Summer Teen Internship Program is a paid summer internship in Boston for teens aged 14 and older. Interns work at the Aquarium on Central Wharf and help visitors enjoy and learn from the exhibits. All of the teen internships are paid positions. Each intern completes one week of training and then six weeks of work. Teens fill one of two roles. A Visitor Services Assistant greets guests, handles customer service, and shares educational information at exhibits. An Interpretation and Engagement Aquarium Guide explains exhibits, talks with visitors about animals and ocean conservation, and runs activities around the building. Training covers marine science, climate science, public speaking, and customer service. Interns also take a required weekly professional development course and a weekly ocean advocacy course. Optional behind-the-scenes workshops and weekly social meetings are offered too. Questions about the program can be sent to the Aquarium's teen programs email.

Requirements

Open to teens aged 14 and older. Most positions are limited to residents of Boston and Cambridge. The Aquarium says the summer 2027 application will be posted in March.
