About
Meta Summer Academy, formerly called Facebook Summer Academy, is a six-week summer program at Meta for high school sophomores who live in East Palo Alto, Belle Haven, North Fair Oaks or Redwood City, California. Participants learn coding, explore careers in tech and build workplace skills while getting a close look at how a major social media company runs day to day. Since 2012, the program has served more than 200 high school students. The 2026 program ran from Monday, June 15 to Friday, July 24, 2026, at 30 hours a week, typically 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. Participants receive a stipend, with the amount set each year, as well as breakfast and lunch. Meta provides pickup and drop-off at central local spots such as libraries, and students get themselves to and from those points.
Requirements
Students must be sophomores at the time of application, be full-year residents of East Palo Alto, Belle Haven, North Fair Oaks or Redwood City, and have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0. No work experience is needed, and the program does not make exceptions to these rules. Students must commit to all six weeks, and the schedule is not flexible. A complete application includes the online form, a transcript showing first-semester sophomore grades, and one recommendation from a teacher, counselor, school official or community leader. For the 2026 program, applications opened December 1, 2025 and closed February 14, 2026, and incomplete applications were not considered.
