About

InterseXtions: Gender & Sexuality is a paid internship at the Brooklyn Museum for New York City teens who want to explore gender and sexuality through art. Interns study LGBTQ+ social movements and artists working today, and they meet museum educators, artists, and curators to look at the collection through a queer lens. The group reads and discusses topics such as feminism, sexuality, and social justice, and members make their own art in response. Interns also plan, organize, and promote a free, large-scale event for LGBTQ+ teens and allies. The 2026-2027 program runs from November 2026 to June 2027, with weekly Tuesday meetings from 4:30 to 6:30 pm plus occasional Friday and weekend events and field trips. Interns earn $17 per hour, and returning second-year members serve as program leaders at $18 per hour. Each intern can work up to 75 hours over the year, and the museum provides OMNY cards for weekend and evening work.
