About

The Teen Night Planning Committee is a paid internship at the Brooklyn Museum for New York City high school students who want to plan public programs that connect art and activism. Members work as a team to design and run Teen Nights, which are free, large-scale events for teens at the museum. The committee is guided through the full event-planning process and makes real decisions about each event. Interns meet educators, artists, and curators, learn about the museum's collections, and study social movements and youth organizing. They also use social media to promote Teen Night across the city, especially in Brooklyn, and connect with emerging artists and performers. First-year members earn $17 per hour, and second-year members serve as leaders at $18 per hour, for up to 75 hours over the year. OMNY cards are provided for evening and weekend work. The 2026–27 program runs from November 2026 to May 2027 in person at the museum in Brooklyn, with weekly Wednesday meetings from 4:30 to 6:30 pm, plus occasional Friday and weekend events, field trips, and activities.

Requirements

Open to all New York City high school students. Members must commit to the full November to May schedule and attend the weekly Wednesday meetings. The application deadline for the 2026–27 program has passed. The museum says to check back in June 2027 to apply for the fall 2027 program.
