About

The Mass General Brigham Youth Program, formerly the MGH Youth Scholars Program, is a multi-year healthcare career program for high school students from Boston, Revere, and Chelsea, Massachusetts. It was created by combining Massachusetts General Hospital's Youth Scholars Program with the Student Success Jobs Program at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Students join in 10th grade and stay with the program through high school and into college. Participants explore healthcare careers, hold paid internships during the school year and summer, and receive college and career advising. Alumni continue to get mentorship and career support during college. Program sites include Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital. Students also attend weekly workshops on personal and professional growth. About 75 students are accepted each year.

Requirements

Only sophomores from Boston Public Schools (including Edward M. Kennedy Academy for Health Careers), Revere High School, and Chelsea High School can apply, and a 3.0 GPA is required. Applicants should be interested in healthcare and able to attend afternoon program hours. Applications open in the spring and selections are made in the summer. The 2026 application opened in spring 2026. Students at partner schools can ask their guidance counselor how to apply.
