About

The Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center Teen Volunteer Program is an in-person volunteer opportunity for teens at Kaiser Permanente's Los Angeles Medical Center. Volunteers at the medical center serve in more than 40 departments across the campus. Volunteer roles at the medical center include the Red Vest Concierge program, which covers tasks such as member check-in, wayfinding, wheelchair support and patient deliveries. Other programs include the Silver Angel Program, the Care Extender Program, the Gift Shop and the Acoustic Remedies music program. The Paws of Love pet program is currently on hold. Questions go to the Volunteer Services department, which prefers to be contacted by email.

Requirements

Teen volunteers must commit to at least 100 hours over one year. A valid Social Security Number is required, and volunteers must communicate effectively in English; speaking other languages is a plus. The Red Vest Concierge program is open to volunteers ages 16 and up. Shadowing and hands-on clinical experience are not allowed at this facility, and onboarding applies only to the Los Angeles Medical Center and does not transfer to other Kaiser Permanente sites. To join, teens submit an online application, complete an interview, pass a health screening, and complete an information session and orientation. Applications are open every month, and interviews happen monthly except in July and December.
