About

The Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Teen Volunteer Program is a hospital volunteer program for high school students in the Santa Clarita Valley. Volunteers serve at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital at 23845 McBean Parkway in Valencia, California. Teen positions include gift shop representative, patient unit support, Art for Healing, and Music for Healing. Each volunteer agrees to a 50-hour commitment, working one 2-hour shift per week. New volunteers attend a three-hour orientation and take part in ongoing training. Orientation takes place in the same month as each application window. The program is unpaid. Questions can go to Volunteer Services by phone.

Requirements

Applicants must be at least 16 years old when applying. Because demand is high, the hospital currently accepts applications only from students who live in its local area, the Santa Clarita Valley. Volunteers must buy a hospital uniform and follow the hospital's health screening rules, including required annual testing and vaccinations. Applications open twice a year, for one week each time: May 1 to 7 for the spring session and November 1 to 7 for the fall session. After applying, students get an email from the Volunteer Services Department with their orientation date.
