About

The Summer Teen Volunteer Program at The Hospital of Central Connecticut is a hospital volunteering opportunity for high school students who are 14 or older. The hospital is located in New Britain, Connecticut. Volunteers serve in person and get a close look at how a hospital works, which can help students decide whether a healthcare career is right for them. The hospital also runs a year-round teen volunteer program with the same age limit and application steps. Year-round volunteers must commit to at least 40 hours during the school year, and school community service forms are signed only after those 40 hours are complete. The hospital currently says it expects few summer openings because many high school and college students already volunteer there during the year.

Requirements

Open to high school students age 14 or older. To apply, students fill out the online teen volunteer application. A parent or guardian must complete a parental agreement, and a teacher or guidance counselor must fill out a reference form. Applicants also need a health clearance form from their primary care doctor and must complete an in-person interview. Students can still apply online while summer openings are limited, and the volunteer office will reach out if a spot opens up. No fixed application deadline is posted.
