About
The Mayor's Youth Employment Program (MYEP) is a paid summer internship program in Stamford, Connecticut, for high school juniors and seniors who live in the city. The program places students in internships with a range of employers, and it gives priority to students from marginalized communities. Past interns have worked in City of Stamford departments such as the Engineering Bureau, as well as with partner organizations. Interns gain 140 hours of hands-on work experience over a six-week summer program. They also attend 27 hours of required leadership workshops on soft skills, interviewing, job searching, and writing resumes and cover letters. Participants are paid $16.35 per hour. Through a partnership with Summer Jobs Connect, students also receive financial literacy training and help opening a bank or credit union account. The 2026 internship ran from June 29 to July 30, after an orientation week starting June 22.
Requirements
Open to current high school juniors and seniors who are Stamford residents legally allowed to work in the United States. Students must commit to the entire program, including orientation week and Friday workshops. Apply through the online application form and bring a copy of your resume to the interview. The 2026 application was open from January 1 to February 27, 2026, with interviews held from March to May.
