About

Student 5.0 is a free career launch program from ReadyCT for public high school seniors in parts of Connecticut. The program helps students decide what comes after graduation, whether that means college, an apprenticeship, the military, a training program, or going straight into a job. Each participant is paired with a career launch coordinator who gets to know their interests and skills. Together they build a personal career launch plan, and the coordinator keeps coaching the student as they carry it out. Participants take part in 12 career readiness workshops and get interview practice and one-on-one coaching. They can also earn industry-recognized credentials. Through ReadyCT's employer connections, students may join site visits, informational interviews, job shadows, and industry training. There is no cost to participate. ReadyCT is based in Hartford, Connecticut.

Requirements

Must be a senior attending a public high school in Greater Hartford/East Hartford, New Britain/Bristol, Middletown, or Manchester, Connecticut. ReadyCT is currently collecting interest forms for students in the Class of 2027. Apply by submitting the short online Student 5.0 interest form; a team member follows up after it is submitted, and for applicants under 18, staff also reach out to a parent or guardian to share program details.
