About

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) High School Cooperative Education Intern program is a hands-on work experience for Connecticut high school students in technical or trade programs. Interns complete a practicum in the field with CTDOT. Placements cover skilled trades such as maintenance, automotive work, carpentry, electrical work, HVACR and plumbing. The program is meant to help students build career readiness while still in high school. The work is done in person in Connecticut. CTDOT is headquartered in Newington. CTDOT does not publish fixed dates or pay for this program on its student opportunities page.

Requirements

Open to high school juniors and seniors who are at least 16 years old and enrolled in a technical or trade course of study related to the area they would be assigned to. CTDOT does not publish a set application deadline. State of Connecticut openings, including CTDOT positions, are posted on the state's online job portal, so interested students should apply there when a posting is open and check with their school's cooperative education or career office.
