About

The Bronx Museum Teen Council and Teen Summer are paid art programs at The Bronx Museum of the Arts for New York City high school students ages 14 to 19. Teen Council began in 2005 and gives teens a way to work closely with contemporary art and the museum itself. It runs as two four-month sessions each year, one in the fall and one in the spring. Members meet at the museum twice a week after school. Activities include meeting artists, curating exhibitions, making zines, and exploring current shows, while teens discuss issues affecting young people and make art about them. Participants receive a stipend, and teens may join one or both sessions in a year. Teen Summer is a four-week program held during the NYC public school summer break. Participants meet at the museum three afternoons a week, learn art techniques, and create work for a final exhibition. Teen Summer participants are also paid. Teens can take part in both Teen Summer and Teen Council. Twelve students are accepted into each cycle.

Requirements

Open to New York City high school students ages 14 to 19. Teens submit an application for each cycle. Applications for the Fall 2026 Teen Council session closed on October 4, 2026.
