About

AEOP Internships, run by the Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP), are paid research positions for high school and undergraduate students interested in STEM. Interns work in top university labs or in U.S. Army Research Laboratories and Centers. Each intern is mentored by a professional scientist or engineer. Research areas include cybersecurity, energetics, biology and materials science. Most positions are full-time, short-term and in person, and a few part-time positions run during the school year. Openings are offered at labs around the country. Housing, meals and transportation are not provided. Every intern earns an educational stipend, and the amount depends on the lab location and the length of the internship. Selected students receive stipend details in an award letter. Participation is free.

Requirements

Open to U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents who are currently enrolled in high school or an undergraduate program. Individual postings may list extra eligibility requirements. Interns need to live within commuting distance of their lab. To apply, students browse current openings and submit one common application through an AEOP account, uploading a resume and/or transcript. There is no application fee, and application deadlines differ from position to position.
