About
The Westminster Teen Healthcare Internship is a hands-on clinical program run by Westminster Community Care Center for high school students in Ventura County, California. Interns help at evening clinics in Oxnard, Thousand Oaks, and Santa Paula. The Oxnard clinic meets on Tuesdays, the Thousand Oaks clinic meets on Wednesdays, and the Santa Paula clinic meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month. The internship lasts at least two years. Interns serve about 5 to 6 hours on a clinic night every other week, all 12 months of the year. New interns train with a preceptor for 4 to 6 months. Interns wear plain navy blue scrubs and closed-toe shoes.
Requirements
Must have at least 2 years of high school remaining when applying and must be able to stay from 3:45 pm to 10:00 pm on the clinic night closest to home: Tuesdays (Oxnard), Wednesdays (Thousand Oaks), or first and third Thursdays (Santa Paula). Commitment of at least 2 years, every other week. Students who speak a second language fluently are preferred. Accepted students must show a negative TB test or a waiver. Apply online through a QR code or with a paper copy picked up at a clinic. Applications are accepted from November 1 to January 15 each year.
