About
The Vermont Sports Medicine Center Clinical Internship Program is an unpaid internship for high school juniors and seniors who want to see how physical therapy and occupational therapy work. Vermont Sports Medicine Center is a physical therapy practice in Vermont. Interns watch therapists at work and also help with the clinic's daily operations, under the direction of the Clinical Manager or Practice Director. Tasks depend on the student's abilities. They can include setting up treatment areas, cleaning up after patient sessions, putting together and taking apart equipment, and helping with equipment upkeep and inventory. Interns may also research medical information online for therapists, make copies and help schedule patient treatments. An internship lasts two to four months, depending on the student's school schedule. Interns work between 6 and 20 hours per week, and hours can be arranged around classes.
Requirements
Must be a high school junior or senior with a GPA of at least 3.0 who plans to study a medical field after high school. Applicants also need the physical and mental ability to handle the internship's main duties and must be willing to learn computer skills; computer literacy is preferred. The center does not post an application deadline; interested students should email the center to ask about openings.
