About
The Junior Conservation Technician (JCT) Program at Audubon Vermont is a hands-on conservation program for teens ages 14 to 18. It is one of five programs in Audubon Vermont's Youth Conservation Leadership Program, which runs career exploration opportunities for high school students. JCTs build practical skills in outdoor and environmental education, wildlife and habitat conservation, and naturalist work. They also practice teamwork and leadership and strengthen their resumes. Participants work both in groups and on their own on Audubon projects. Project areas include bird banding, managing forests to benefit birds, maintaining trails, and gardening with native plants. Youth in the leadership program work alongside local Vermont conservation professionals and explore possible future careers.
Requirements
Open to youth ages 14 to 18. Audubon Vermont posts open youth positions on its program resource hub and says that if no positions are listed, it is not hiring. Students interested in the next round can watch the Audubon Vermont youth program page or contact the program coordinator with questions.
