About
The Choice Physical Therapy Clinical Internship is an unpaid internship in Vermont for high school juniors and seniors who want an early look at physical therapy and occupational therapy. It is run by Choice Physical Therapy of Vermont, an outpatient practice that focuses on general orthopaedic physical therapy. Interns watch therapists at work and also help with the clinic's daily operations, supervised by the Clinical Manager or Practice Director. The internship lasts 2 to 4 months, depending on the student's school schedule. Interns work between 6 and 20 hours a week, and the hours can be arranged around classes. Depending on the student's abilities, the work falls into three areas. Clinical tasks include setting up treatment spaces, stocking linens, cleaning up after sessions and caring for equipment. Development tasks include researching medical topics online for therapists and helping put together clinical protocols based on evidence. Administrative tasks include copying documents and scheduling patient treatments.
Requirements
Students must be a high school junior or senior with a 3.0 GPA and plan to study a medical field after high school. They must also be physically and mentally able to do the main duties and willing to learn computer skills; computer literacy is preferred. The practice does not post an application form or deadline, so interested students should email choiceptvermont@gmail.com to ask about openings.
