About
The UCLA Health Pre-Med Summer Scholar Program is a one-week, in-person medical exposure program for US high school students who are thinking about careers in medicine. It is run by UCLA Health Volunteer Services in Los Angeles. Participants hear from medical guest speakers and take part in hands-on activities such as suturing, CPR training, Stop the Bleed certification, imaging and pathology lessons, robotic surgical skills, provider panels, and research lab tours. Students choose one of two five-day sessions, and a first-choice session is not guaranteed. The 2026 sessions ran June 22 to 26 and June 29 to July 3, from 9 AM to 4 PM each day. Activities take place at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, the Center for Health Sciences, and Rosenfeld Hall on the UCLA campus. It is not a residential camp, so housing and parking are not provided. The 2026 program fee was $1,450, covering instruction, materials, and a polo shirt, and need-based scholarships are available.
Requirements
Open to US citizens who are current high school sophomores, juniors, or seniors in the United States, are at least 16 years old, and are not yet attending college.
