About
Camp CHLA is a free, five-day summer program at Children's Hospital Los Angeles in Los Angeles, California, for high school students who live in Los Angeles County. Campers hear from health care professionals about their careers, get hands-on training in CPR, first aid and health promotion, and see the hospital's clinical environment firsthand. The program meets in person at the hospital from about 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, and campers provide their own transportation. There is no charge to attend. Each summer has two sessions, and students rank their preferred session when applying. The 2027 sessions run June 14 to 18 and July 26 to 30. A one-day version, Camp CHLA Discovery Day, is also offered.
Requirements
Current high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors who live in Los Angeles County can apply. Seniors and past participants are not eligible, and campers must attend all five days of their session. The application includes one essay question of 200 to 250 words, plus applicant, parent or guardian, and school information. Accepted students submit onboarding documents, including immunization records, before their session.
