About

The Strong Future Las Vegas Youth Employment Program is a job readiness and employment program for young people in Las Vegas, run by the Mayor's Fund for Las Vegas LIFE. Participants first complete a seven-session workforce readiness course taught by the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension. The course covers resume writing, time management, interview techniques, ethics and professionalism. The program also offers ongoing training in financial literacy, communication and conflict management. After training, youth can be placed in summer jobs, which let them explore careers, build workplace skills and make connections with local employers. Youth can also be matched with an after-school job during the school year. Adult advisors work with each young person and their worksite supervisor, giving feedback and helping students keep up with both work and school. Participants can also receive case management, educational programs and other support services based on their needs. Las Vegas employers take part by hiring youth or sponsoring them at other organizations. The program is in person in Las Vegas, Nevada. The official program page does not list pay rates or program dates.
