Be Your Own Boss (BYOB) Internship

The Be Your Own Boss (BYOB) Internship from Future Founders is a free, paid entrepreneurship internship for high school students in the United States. Interns learn how to turn an idea into a business through hands-on projects, group challenges, and mentorship from experienced professionals. Teams design and test a business idea together, then present it in a pitch competition where they can win extra cash prizes. Participants can earn a stipend of up to $250. The next cohort is scheduled for January 12 to February 4, 2027, though the dates may change. That cohort meets Tuesday through Thursday from 5 to 7:15 PM Central Time on Zoom. Session format varies by cohort and can be in person, hybrid, or virtual, and Chicago cohorts include some in-person events.

Applicants must be current high school students who live in the U.S.; some cohorts are open nationwide while others are limited to Chicago students. Good candidates are curious about business, innovation, or leadership and can commit to weekly sessions and group projects. Students can join a waitlist on the Future Founders website to be notified when the next cohort opens.
