SLO REP Academy of Creative Theatre (ACT) Teen Internship

The SLO REP Academy of Creative Theatre (ACT) Teen Internship is a volunteer theatre education internship for teens ages 14 to 18, run by San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre in San Luis Obispo, California. Interns help out in ACT's youth theatre classes and camps. In the classroom, they support professional teaching artists by encouraging young students during warm-ups, games and activities, and sometimes by helping with scenes or choreography. Behind the scenes, they help the ACT admin team prepare scripts, gather class supplies, make costume and set pieces, and run tech or backstage for class performances. Along the way, interns receive teaching artist training and mentoring and work next to professional actors, directors, choreographers and instructors. The role is an unpaid volunteer position. Interns choose the hours and weeks that suit their schedule, and the experience can count toward school volunteer hours. As a perk, each class of volunteering earns $100 off tuition for any ACT program, so two classes earn a $200 discount. Interns also receive one pass to a mainstage show in SLO REP's 2026/27 season. ACT Education is based at 3533 Empleo Street in San Luis Obispo. SLO REP is recruiting interns for its Fall 2026 class session.

Open to teens ages 14 to 18. To apply, students fill out the online application, where they choose their hours and weeks, and email the ACT Assistant Education Director to say they are interested. The page does not list an application deadline.
