About

The Scripps Research Student Research Internship Program (SRTI) is a 10-week summer research internship at the Scripps Research Translational Institute for high school, undergraduate, graduate and professional students. The program focuses on translational science, especially genomics and mobile health (mHealth). Interns learn how genetics shapes common and complex diseases and how mobile technology can be used to track and improve health. They also study how genomic association studies and mHealth trials are designed and analyzed, and they see how clinical trials are proposed, run and evaluated. The internship is unpaid, and the institute does not provide housing or housing support. The 2026 program ran either June 1 to August 7 or June 15 to August 7.

Requirements

High school students can apply if they will be at least 16 years old when the internship begins. The most important factor in admission is a strong interest in genomics or mHealth research. Interns must arrange school credit or a transcript notation for their participation. The institute says details on the 2027 summer program will be posted in late fall 2026.
