About

The Alamo Academies Internship is part of Alamo Academies, a free two-year dual credit STEM program for high school students in the San Antonio, Texas area. It is run by the Alamo Colleges District. Students take college-level courses while they finish high school, earn college credit and industry certifications, and take part in internships with local employers. Alamo Academies says employers pay the student salaries. Students choose one of five academies: Advanced Technology Manufacturing, Aerospace, Diesel Technology, Health Professions, or Information Technology & Security. The Aerospace Academy is accredited by the Federal Aviation Administration. The program costs nothing for students. Alamo Academies has been running since 1999.

Requirements

Applicants must be current high school sophomores. The online application asks students to pick their high school from a list of San Antonio-area schools, and homeschool is an option. After that, students fill out a dual credit application and a High School Programs (HSP) enrollment form, and an Alamo Academies staff member follows up. Students should contact Alamo Academies about application timing.
