About
The Summer Youth Employment Program at Project Self-Sufficiency is a paid summer job training program in Newton, New Jersey, for rising high school sophomores and juniors from lower-income families. Teens earn money through on-the-job work experience while building practical career skills. The training covers resume and cover letter writing, skills assessments, workplace etiquette, interview practice, and filling out job applications. Participants also explore careers and set goals. Free transportation is provided. The 2026 program ran Monday through Thursday, 9am to 4pm, from July 6 to August 6, 2026, at Project Self-Sufficiency's campus at 127 Mill Street in Newton. Requirements
Open to rising high school sophomores and juniors currently enrolled in high school. Family income must be at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level, and the student must need transportation (cannot own a car). Residency and other guidelines also apply, and applicants should be willing to learn and work hard. Apply with a student intake application and a parent or guardian intake application that includes an income worksheet.
