About

Innovation, Entrepreneurship and the Science of Smart Cities (ieSoSC) is a free summer program at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering for New York City high school students. Students work on hands-on technology projects with coding, microcontrollers, circuits, and sensors, and they prototype a product or service meant to improve city life. The program also teaches the business side of a new product, including economics, project management, patents and copyrights, and pitching. Theater-based communication workshops help students sharpen their business pitch. Sessions take place in person in Brooklyn, Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM. The 2026 program had two tracks: the 5-week ieSoSC I track ran from July 6 to August 7, 2026, and the 4-week ieSoSC II track, by invitation only, ran from July 13 to August 7, 2026. Every student gets a full scholarship, so there is no cost to attend.

Requirements
