About

NYU Precollege is New York University's program that lets high school students in 11th and 12th grade take real NYU undergraduate courses for college credit during the spring or summer. Students choose from courses offered in person and online in areas such as arts and media, STEM, humanities and social sciences, and business. They also get academic advising and access to NYU resources. The fall term is listed separately as NYU Precollege Fall. Summer students can earn up to 8 credits across two courses and may add a non-credit, pass/fail College Writing Workshop. Summer also brings evening and weekend events and an online College Prep Series covering admissions and financial aid. In the spring, NYU recommends taking one course. Campus housing in a Washington Square residence hall is available in summer only. For the 2026-27 year, tuition is $6,276 for a 3-credit course and $8,368 for a 4-credit course. Summer 2027 housing and dining is estimated at $4,800.

Requirements

Applicants must be rising juniors or seniors for summer, or current juniors or seniors for spring, with at least a 3.0 GPA. International students can study online in spring or come to campus in summer. Summer campus housing is for students 15 and older, and summer students who live on campus must take at least two courses. The application requires an official high school transcript and a $50 fee, and admission is rolling. Summer 2027 applications open January 15, 2027, and are due June 4 for U.S. and online students. Students who want housing should apply by April 15.
