About

The Museum of Fine Arts Boston Teen Arts Council (TAC) is a paid, school-year leadership program for Boston high school students who want to learn how a major art museum works. Members earn $15 per hour. The 2026-27 program meets in person at the museum on Thursdays from 4 to 6:30 pm, running from October 15, 2026 to May 27, 2027. Sessions follow the Boston Public Schools calendar, so there are no meetings during school breaks, holidays, or weather closings. Members also attend at least two of three Sunday events: Lunar New Year, Nowruz, and the spring Teen Arts Expo. Council members work with curators, interpretation staff, and exhibition designers to create art displays and write gallery labels. They also help plan and staff teen events, promote museum programs to young people through social media, and lead art-making activities at community celebrations. The MFA describes the council as a museum career and college readiness program.

Requirements

Applicants must be enrolled in high school (or an equivalent program) in grades 10, 11, or 12 and must live in the City of Boston or attend Boston Public Schools. They must be able to attend every Thursday session during the program year.
