About
The McNay Art Museum Teen Art Guide (TAG) program is a year-long volunteer program in San Antonio, Texas, for high school juniors and seniors who love art and want to learn how museums work. Teen Art Guides help with education programs, special events and fundraisers, and they earn community service hours along the way. They also help plan and promote the museum's Teen Night. The 2026-2027 TAG year runs from August 2026 to August 2027. Members volunteer at two events each month, including summer events such as Summer Art Camp, and attend one meeting per semester. The program is a volunteer role rather than a paid position. Perks include free admission, a museum membership, a store discount, behind-the-scenes access to exhibitions and time with curators and staff.
Requirements
Applicants must be current sophomores or juniors in the San Antonio area with reliable transportation to the museum, and availability on Thursday nights or weekends is expected. Students apply at the end of their sophomore or junior year and serve during the following school year. To apply, students submit an application, complete an in-person group interview and provide one academic or professional reference. For 2026, applications opened March 20 and were due June 17, 2026.
