About
The Wave Hill Art, Community, Education and Science Internship (ACES) is a paid, year-long internship in the Bronx for high school students interested in arts and science education. Interns help run Family Art Project, a weekend program where families make nature-inspired art together at Wave Hill, and they also help lead a family storytime program. The internship lasts 13 months; the 2026 cohort runs from June 2026 through June 2027. Interns usually work four to eight hours each weekend, with a cap of 14 hours. Interns earn $17 per hour. The program also includes field trips to cultural institutions and green spaces, career conversations with educators and artists, and a final project in which the group designs a weekend workshop for families.
Requirements
Must be enrolled in high school, at least 15 years old by July 1, 2026, and eligible to work in the United States. Applicants should be interested in arts and science education and comfortable working with the public, including children. Interns need regular weekend availability (9AM–4PM), must attend two required Saturday afternoon workshops each month, and must commit to the full 13 months, including weekend training in June and weekday training in July. Wave Hill says to check back in winter for the 2027 internship.
