About

The Lincoln Electric System (LES) Job Shadow Program lets high school and college students observe professionals at work at LES, a utility based in Lincoln, Nebraska. The goal is to help students see a real job in action so they can judge whether a career in the energy industry fits their future. Students can pick from a wide range of departments. Engineering options include Transmission and Civil Design, Projects Engineering, System Operations, and planning for future generation and transmission. Technology options include enterprise software development, business systems such as GIS and ERP, SCADA, IT and OT communications infrastructure, cybersecurity, and geospatial services. Students can also shadow Financial Accounting, Rates and Analytics, Customer and Corporate Communications, the Environmental department, or the crews in Transmission and Distribution Construction, which build and maintain overhead and underground power lines. The LES careers site does not list fixed program dates.

Requirements

Open to high school and college students. To take part, submit the online Job Shadow Request form linked from the LES Job Shadow page; no application deadline is listed. Students who are unsure which area suits them are encouraged to browse the department descriptions on that page first. Questions: LESCareers@les.com or 402.473.3396.
