About

The Charleston County Summer Youth Internship Program is a paid summer job program run by Charleston County Government in South Carolina for high school and college students who live in the county. It is held every year and lasts six weeks. Interns build workplace readiness skills and get hands-on experience with how county government operates. The 2026 program ran from June 12 to July 23, 2026. Interns were paid $15.00 per hour and worked about 20 hours per week, with a cap of 120 total hours.

Requirements

Applicants must be between 16 and 21 years old when they submit the application, be enrolled in high school or college, and be residents of Charleston County. Applicants under 18 need a parent's consent. The application is completed online, and students without internet access can use public computers at the Charleston County Human Resources Department on Bridge View Drive. Students interested in a future summer should watch the county's program page for the next application period.
