About

The Charleston County Student Leadership & Intern Program is a paid public safety internship for high school juniors who live in Charleston County, South Carolina. It is run by the county's Consolidated 9-1-1 Center and Emergency Medical Services. The program lasts two years and is meant to prepare students for careers in public safety. Interns get on-the-job training and earn credits toward high school graduation. Students can list interests in 911 dispatch, emergency medical services, or the fire department. During the summer, interns work weekdays for four to six weeks. During the school year, they work on select weekends. The internship pays $16.30 per hour.
