About

The Cedars-Sinai High School Student Volunteer Program, also called the Teen Volunteer Program, places high school students aged 14 to 18 in volunteer roles at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles. It is meant for teens curious about healthcare who want to see how a large medical center runs. Cedars-Sinai offers three sessions in 2027. The Winter/Spring session runs January 25 to April 4 with one two-hour shift a week for 10 weeks. The Accelerated Summer session runs June 21 to July 25 with two four-hour shifts a week for five weeks. The Fall session runs October 4 to December 12 on the same weekly schedule as Winter/Spring. Typical tasks include data entry, helping new patients get oriented, answering phones, and delivering flowers. Teen volunteers do not do research or help with medical procedures. The program is unpaid, and volunteers buy a $30 jacket and wear solid black or white scrubs.

Requirements

Must be 14-18 years old and enrolled in high school. Volunteers must be available for an entire session. Submit an online application with a high school transcript (official or unofficial) showing a minimum 3.2 GPA. Complete an online volunteer orientation and an initial and annual health evaluation (recent TB test, MMR and varicella vaccines, annual flu vaccine). New volunteers and a parent or guardian must attend the in-person Teen Information Session. Spots are first-come, first-served and processing can take up to one month.
