About

The SAGE Summer Camp (Science Accelerating Growth and Engagement) at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is on hold for 2026, according to Berkeley Lab. No dates for a 2027 camp have been announced. When it runs, SAGE is a one-week day camp for Northern California high school students ages 14 to 17 who want to see what working in STEM is really like. The camp is run by Berkeley Lab's K-12 team together with lab scientists, engineers, and staff, and it is part of a SAGE effort shared by several Department of Energy national labs. Students shadow lab staff during their workday, hear technical talks about research and careers, complete short hands-on projects, and build professional and leadership skills. The camp is aimed at curious students who have not yet committed to a STEM path. The 2025 camp ran June 9 to June 13, 2025, from 9am to 5pm each day, with meals and materials provided at no charge.

Requirements

Applicants must be current 9th, 10th, or 11th graders at a Northern California high school and under 18 for the whole camp. All students are welcome to apply. Apply through Kaleidoscope with two short-answer questions plus a recommendation from a non-family teacher, coach, or mentor. The 2025 application deadline was March 21, 2025, and applications are on hold for 2026.
