About
The Telluride Association Summer Seminar (TASS) is a free summer seminar for high school sophomores and juniors run by the Telluride Association, but it will not be held in 2027. In fall 2026 the association's board announced a pause after problems during the 2026 program, including a staffing shortfall that led to the early closure of the Ithaca session. The board said TASS will return after a full review but gave no date, and there is no current application cycle. The 2026 seminars ran from June 21 to July 25, 2026, about five weeks, at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and the University of Maryland in College Park. TASS charged no tuition. The association covered books, housing, meals, field trips and facilities fees for every student, offered help with travel costs, and provided extra aid for students who would otherwise give up summer earnings. Students interested in a future session should watch the Telluride Association for news about when TASS will resume.
Requirements
When TASS last ran, it was open to rising juniors and seniors who were at least 15 at the start of the program and no older than 17 by the end. International students could apply but had to be sophomores. Applicants chose one of two seminar tracks and could apply to only one. For the 2026 program, applications opened October 15, 2025, were due December 3, 2025, and were followed by interviews in February and final decisions in March 2026.
