Get Inspired Houston (GIH) Internship

Get Inspired Houston (GIH) Internship is an annual summer internship run by Sewa Houston for high school and college students who want to serve underserved communities in Houston. The high school track is a part-time role. High school interns help run out-of-school summer programming and camp activities for children in Sewa's ASPIRE learning centers, leading games, activities and lessons. They also work alongside the college interns, get hands-on experience with a grassroots community program, and take part in leadership workshops. The internship lasts 10 weeks, from the first week of June through August 15, and includes some weekend service events. High school interns need at least 50 service hours to earn a program certificate, and there is an optional chance to receive Teen CERT emergency response training. The internship is unpaid, but it can count for high school credit. Accepted students pay a program fee. Interns serve mainly in West Houston, and Sewa Houston's main office is on Briar Forest.

Open to high school students who are rising sophomores or older. Students apply through an online enrollment form completed with a parent or guardian.
