About
The RIT Imaging Science Summer High School Internship is a paid summer research internship at the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science at Rochester Institute of Technology, open to rising high school seniors. Interns join an imaging science research team and work in a real laboratory. Past and listed project areas include cultural heritage imaging, machine learning, remote sensing, and computer vision. The program also includes professional development and team-building activities. The 2026 internship ran for six weeks, from July 9 to August 14, 2026. Interns work full time, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, for about 40 hours a week. The program takes place in person on the RIT campus in Rochester, New York. Participants receive a stipend, and those who finish the program earn a certificate of completion.
Requirements
Open to rising high school seniors who live in the Greater Rochester area; no housing is provided. Students who expect to miss more than a week of the summer are unlikely to receive an offer. Submit an application with a letter of recommendation and a transcript attached; some applicants are invited to interview.
