About

The City Tech College Now STEM Research Academy is a free, two-part science research program at CUNY's City Tech in Brooklyn for New York City public high school sophomores and juniors. The first part is a spring Introduction to Science Research course. In 2026 it met on Saturdays from 10am to 2pm, February 14 to May 16, in a hybrid format with both on-campus and remote sessions. Students learn to form research questions, design experiments, search scientific literature, and carry out lab and field research in biology or chemistry. Students who finish the spring course can apply for a six-week summer research internship, held Monday to Thursday. Interns join a City Tech faculty lab, attend a weekly seminar, complete a short project, write a paper, and present at the Summer Science Symposium at the American Museum of Natural History. The 2026 internship paid a $1,575 stipend, and participants also received a college ID, OMNY cards, and free lunch on Mondays. College Now covers tuition, books, and supplies.
