About

The Raleigh Summer Youth Employment Program (RSYEP) is a paid summer job program run by the City of Raleigh, North Carolina, for teens ages 15 to 18 who live in the city. Participants work with the City of Raleigh and earn paid work experience while building professional and life skills and exploring career pathways. The program lasts about eight weeks. The 2027 program runs June 14 to August 6, 2027, and ends with a celebration on August 7.

Requirements

Must be 15 to 18 years old and a high school student as of May 31, 2027, and must live within Raleigh city limits. Only one applicant per household is accepted. Participants cannot be enrolled in summer school or athletic activities during the program, and may miss no more than 5 days. Accepted teens must attend a mandatory onboarding day on April 3, 2027, and a mandatory orientation in May, both with a parent or guardian if under 18. Applicants need proof of Raleigh residency showing their current address at their interview and a government-issued ID (state ID, driver's permit or license, or passport) at the time of a conditional offer. New hires must clear a criminal record check, drug testing, and fingerprinting. For 2027, applications and interviews take place from January 25 to March 15, 2027.
